Nature hike

Accompanied by an experienced guide, we will get to know the nature around Nelijärve, walk on forest trails, pass through the Nelijärve eskers, look at the lakes of Nelijärve, stop at Siniallikad springs, climb Nelijärve hill and learn about the history of the area.

You can also listen to the sounds of the forest and the birds. The trail is up to 6 km long and takes 2–3 hours to complete depending on the hikers.
The specific route will be chosen according to the interests of the group.

Kicksled hike

We will hike along the President’s hike that winds up and down between the forests of Kõrvemaa. The hiking trail is wide and packed with snow. You can opt for a peaceful route or one with steep bends and descents for the kicksled hike. It is quite thrilling to push the sled downhill and feel it pick up speed, only to be slowed by an oncoming hill.

Before the hike, we will do a quick tutorial on kicksled riding, because despite the handlebars, the kicksled is less amenable to turning than a bicycle. We will use modern and lightweight Kickspark sleds. We will provide headlamps for all participants in case it gets dark before the end of the hike.

The hike will take 1.5–3 hours, depending on the group’s schedule.
It is suitable for beginners and requires no previous kicksled experience or special equipment.
Kicksled hiked are accessible to everyone and do not require any physical training. Also suitable for tall people.

Snowshoe hike

A peaceful and educational hike through nature

A leisurely snowshoe hike in the bog with guide to tell stories. Kakerdaja bog is one of the best known bogs in Estonia. And deservedly so. There are also many legends associated with the bog.
The starting point of the hike is located 20 km from Nelijärve Holiday Centre.

Group size: 12–80 people.

Safari and ski hike

Come for a ski trip, but not the way you might think. We will be keeping our distance from the well-lit and designated high-quality ski tracks and skiers wearing fitted racing suits. Our hike will take us beyond the reach of civilisation.

We have up to 100 pairs of wide hiking skis ready and waiting. As well as the most awesome means of transport on snow-covered roads, the 6×6 ZIL 131 army trucks, specially adapted to carry passengers. The trailer has a cover with windows, so you can enjoy the view without the cold being too much of a problem. If needed, we will also provide blankets. We have four of these trucks ready to go. This means we can transport over 100 people at a time.

You will be accompanied by a guide who will tell you a bit about the history and nature of the area. The drive takes us out to Koitjärve or Kõnnu bog, marking the starting point of an exciting 4–6 km (or longer if you wish) guided ski hike. All participants will receive wide hiking skis with bindings suitable for all athletic footwear.

After a couple of hours of leisurely skiing in winter wonderland, we arrive at the campgrounds where a campfire is waiting and hot tea is served.

With the arrival of winter, we invite everyone to Kõrvemaa to enjoy the snowy nature and go skiing.
Skiing, yes, but not the way you might think. We will be keeping our distance from the well-lit and designated high-quality ski tracks and skiers wearing fitted racing suits.
Our hike will take us beyond the reach of civilisation.
We have up to 100 pairs of wide hiking skis ready and waiting. We also have cool transport for getting around on snowy roads. After all, we have to find a way to get to the edge of the bog to start the hike and then get back to the hiking centre in the evening.

Out meeting spot will be in the car park of Nelijärve Holiday Centre. Once all the participants are ready, you will be seated in the trailer of a 6×6 ZIL 131 army truck, modified to carry passengers.

The trailer has a cover with windows, so you can enjoy the view without the cold being too much of a problem. If needed, we will also provide blankets. We have four of these trucks ready to go. This means we can transport over 100 people at a time.
When everything is ready, we will start our hike through the beautiful nature of Kõrvemaa. The vehicle is capable of pushing through forest roads covered with snow up to half a metre deep.

To reassure the less athletic, this is not cross-country skiing in the way we are used to seeing on television, merely a way to take in nature at a pace that everyone can enjoy.

After a couple of hours of leisurely skiing in winter wonderland, we arrive at the campgrounds where a campfire is waiting and hot tea is served. If you wish, we can also grill sausages on the campfire.

When the time is right, we will head back with the trucks.
You will have plenty to see even on the ride back. The trucks are equipped with special side lamps to make the surroundings bright and visible even in the dark.

The hike itself can also take place in the dark. Headlamps will be handed out to all participants.
The view of the bog might be less impressive in the evening but the emotion of the hike is many times more powerful.
